About My Clients
Adults who have experienced trauma (childhood trauma, rape, abuse, assault, or the trauma of betrayal) are the clients I do my best work with. If you are ready to work through the trauma (identify it, acknowledge the impact, and reprocess it) then it's time for us to begin. I utilize an intensive EMDR format with my clients.
My Background and Approach
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. I utilize EMDR, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative, Structural, Systems, Gottman, and Gestalt techniques and approaches to therapy, but I definitely don't think there's a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. As you're in the room with me, you and I will create a new pattern together. Most recently I have been utilizing EMDR intensives. These are sessions that range from 80 minutes up to 4 hours and we tackle one big trauma to work through in that time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Trauma can get stuck in the body, and I help clients get UNstuck, using EMDR as the main modality. While it is scary to go back and face the past, that's the best gift you can give yourself in the present and create hope for that future you want for yourself. We often get stuck in living out of fear instead of a chosen foundation. This fear causes us to create patterns in our lives that we may or may not like, but they feel more comfortable than living authentically. By sitting with people in immense pain and helping move through the pain towards a future, it allows us to integrate past experience with future hopes. My hope is that as you heal from human hurts and relationships, you are better able to connect with the Light. Intimacy is scary and wonderful. I want you to be able to have intimacy with yourself, with others, and with God, living a integrated life.
