About My Clients
You’ve spent so much of yourself showing up for others. Maybe you work in public service, nonprofits, education, or a helping profession, or you’re the first in your family to do this work. You might be a woman, a person of color, LGBTQIA+, highly sensitive, a new parent, or caring for kids and aging parents at once. You may feel burned out, anxious, grieving, or stuck. Here, you don’t have to explain yourself or shrink. All of you is welcome.
My Background and Approach
I’m an NC Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate with a dual MSW/MPP from UCLA. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 20 years leading in public service, so I know the culture, pressure, and particular exhaustion of mission-driven work from the inside. You won’t have to spend sessions explaining your world; we can get to what’s underneath it. My approach is integrative and relational. I draw from IFS, ACT, CBT, somatic work, and sand tray, through a feminist, systems-aware lens. That means we look at your patterns and history, and also at the culture and systems shaping your life, so you can stop blaming yourself for what was never yours alone to carry. I’m warm, direct, and collaborative. I’ll follow your lead and name what I notice. I’m sex-positive and kink-aware, and I welcome every identity and relationship you bring. We go slowly, add depth at your pace, so you can hold onto what matters and set down what you’re ready to release.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in equity, and that many of the struggles we carry come from systems that weren’t built for all of us. Healing is personal, and it’s also political. That belief has guided my career, from advocacy and public service to my work today. I’m an active advocate for public education here in Durham. I live by four values: family, earth, mission, and savoring life. Family keeps me grounded; I’m a parent, and I know the juggle. Earth reminds me that nature heals, so you’ll often see trees behind me in sessions. Mission is why I do this work. And a savoring life means making room for joy: music, painting, time in the water, and the people I love. I also believe you are the expert on your own life. My job isn’t to fix you, but to help you hear your own wisdom again. Whoever you are, whomever you love, and wherever you come from, you belong here.
