About My Clients
If you are struggling with chaos, family conflict, anxiety, depression, or feelings that you have no way to get control of your life back, I believe I can help you begin moving forward again. You deserve a life without cycles of problems, reactions, and pain. That life is possible.
My Background and Approach
I completed my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle Pacific University and began my career working as an outpatient therapist providing individual, family, and group therapy. Through this work I was able to help clients struggling with mental health issues such as abuse, severe family conflict, depression, anxiety, anger management, ADHD, Bipolar, and oppositional defiant disorder. I became a child mental health specialist after extensive work on a children’s mental health extended care unit. Following my licensure in 2003 I became the therapist for LWHS to support their work in providing mental health counseling to all members of the community, regardless of income. In counseling I incorporate aspects of Bowenian, Narrative, solution focused, and behavioral modalities in my counseling sessions. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that respects and involves the client, adapting techniques to their unique needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a proud supporter and member of the LGBTQ community and proud mother of two. I believe that all humans have the responsibility to consider the impact of our actions and to work for change. I am passionate about supporting neurodiversity and inclusion and believe strongly that therapy should acknowledge the unique strengths and needs of each individual, not trying to blindly force compliance with norms. I am also unrepentantly geeky and enjoy scifi, fantasy, reading, cons, cosplay and gaming. I volunteer with an animal rescue and foster kittens which my own cats sometimes have mixed feelings about. I also love nature and our beautiful pacific northwest.
