About My Clients

Within every client are strengths waiting to be named, amplified , and utilized, and aspects of identity and community are important to be integrated for true healing. When people are alienated from their own body and others by anxiety, trauma, or unhealthy relationships, I take great joy in helping them connect more fully to self and others. For people who have faith as a strong part of their identity, I attend respectfully and closely to how this can be a source of strength or pain at times.

My Background and Approach

I am an integrative, somatically-oriented, feminist therapist trained in multiple theories and modalities of therapy, including Interpersonal Process Therapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR. I individualize my approach to each person I see in therapy. I work to help clients feel seen and heard as an individual impacted by cultural, familial, and societal contexts. I have treated folks suffering from many types of trauma, navigating strain in family relationships, managing anxiety, adjusting to new life stages, surviving college and graduate school, struggling with body image, and navigating the rollercoaster of parenting young children. Having worked in multiple settings (college counseling centers, community clinics, hospitals), I have experience with clients from a diversity of backgrounds. I have an MA in Personality Psychology from American University in Washington DC (2004) and a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland (2009).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that people already have within them all they need for healing just waiting to be noticed, named, and amplified. My work centers on this belief and drives my curiosity and respect for clients and their lived experiences. The inability to notice these strengths can come from family patterns, cultural oppression, or individual traumas, so integrating systems-level conversations, community-based healing opportunities, and individual skill-building/interventions are all highly valued in my practice. I consistently feel honored by the trust clients have in me to walk alongside them in their healing journey, and I feel grateful to have the opportunity to bear witness to both the pain and repair that happens through the therapeutic process. My work to hold an anti-racist stance in all aspects of my life demands humility, constant learning, and a good network of accountability and support which I nurture regularly. I am committed to continuing to do better and be better every day.
