About My Clients
Is your child struggling to make friends in school? Do they seem to worry or cry more often than usual? Do you struggle with finding effective ways to set limits around challenging behaviors? As a parent myself, I know that ultimately, I just want my kids to be happy. Of course, it's not always that simple. I can offer you tools and new perspectives on your child's behavior while drawing on your inherent parent wisdom to empower you to do what you know in your heart.
My Background and Approach
My approach is compassionate, humanistic, and strengths-based. I see you and your family as whole people, who exist in many different roles, facing different pressures and expectations. I work with children using play, humor, art, and expressive tools. I support my work with children by working with parents on how to follow up at home and by involving them in sessions regularly. I see families together to enhance connection and bring to light miscommunication and old patterns of relating to one another. I provide education on common experiences such as anxiety, depression, and child misbehavior. Most importantly, my work is centered on what you and your child want to see change and how you all want to grow. I welcome open communication, critical questions, and dialogue to ensure that you are getting the most out of our time together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about social justice and use an anti-oppression framework n my practice that includes careful consideration of class, gender, race, ability, sexual orientation, religion, and more. In my free time, I play with my kids, visit local farms, and enjoy the simple routines of everyday life.
