About My Clients
My clients are so amazing! I can truly say I have learned something from every one of them. I carry these bits of wisdom forward in helping others achieve whatever they wish to accomplish. After many years of working primarily with youth, I now work mostly with adults in a wide variety of relationship dynamics, family situations, and phases of life.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1998 & my Master's Degree in Social Work from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2000. In the almost quarter-century since then, I worked in many different settings: adult group homes, inpatient hospitals, community at-risk youth programs, schools, in-home counseling for many years, child & adolescent day treatment for even longer & now outpatient counseling for the past 6+ years. This variety has allowed me to see the impact good mental health care can have on all areas of a person's life & on their loved ones. One of my favorite therapy methods is EMDR - it is so wonderful to see the transformation (sometimes right before my eyes!) when someone is freed from the hurtful words & memories which have chained them down for far too long. I also offer a variety of other therapy approaches depending on what seems to resonate best for the person I have the honor of working with.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe that EVERYONE deserves a therapy experience which consistently feels safe and accepting, a place that is free from fear of judgment or ridicule. I consistently receive feedback from my clients that their sessions with me provide exactly that - a place that honors and dignifies each person's life story, their struggles, their strengths and their creativity.
