About My Clients
You may not even realize how deeply you’re affected by childhood or relationship trauma until you have to face anxiety and depression in your life. As we peel back the layers of your experience, for most clients, their current relationship struggles, work/co-worker relationships and their view of the world is affected by pain they experienced long ago. I help you with depression, anxiety, trauma, narcissistic abuse and emotionally immature partners, co-workers, family members and friends.
My Background and Approach
In my professional tool kit are many skills that make healing faster, easier and longer lasting. Over the last thirty years as an LMFT, I often support clients in reducing their response to stress so they can think clearly again and return to a calmer state of being. I am a certified EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapist. When we do EMDR, we work together to identify, process through, and desensitize you to painful experiences. Neurofeedback is brain training to increase self-regulation and resiliency. Many people’s resting state has been compromised by trauma, depression, anxiety and stress. These methods allow you to feel more in control and positive about your life. They strengthen positive self-beliefs, after which the body sensations and negative feelings associated with the problem become much more manageable because you’re less reactive.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
If you consider yourself a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and you’re looking to get into therapy for any reason — it doesn’t have to be related to being LGBTQIA +. This makes it much easier for you, since you won’t have to explain or justify your identity. I am already familiar with and support all kinds of sexuality and gender identity. Affirmative therapy is so important for working through mental health issues. When you come to therapy, you want there to be sincere trust and respect between you and your therapist. I create a safe space of acceptance for you to examine the issues you choose to work on. Many people have been through very difficult times. These difficulties shape people’s lives and affect everything around them: their careers, relationships, even their ability to be good parents. I can offer insightful, gentle and compassionate guidance on your path to recovery.
