About My Clients

Life has its ups and downs and so you may feel stuck on a roller coaster of emotions. It’s common to feel and think that no one else can understand your struggles. I believe in working collaboratively with you to build a solid therapeutic relationship and allow for you to progress towards the goals you want to achieve. I have worked with individuals and couples struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, interpersonal conflicts, and coping with everyday life stressors including life transitions.

My Background and Approach

Being a South Asian and having worked in both Pakistan and the US I have been especially keen about approaching clients from a systems perspective. Culture plays a huge role in how our identity is shaped as do early attachments and so I understand the importance of different culture perspectives and navigating life based on client values and beliefs. I have recently received my LGPC to practice as a Mental Health Counselor in the state of Maryland and I offer Virtual Sessions. I have worked with a diverse clientele in the past years, primarily adults and am always interested to work with individuals and couples. Realizing that one form of therapy may not fit all, I employ an integrative approach. I primarily work from a CBT and Person-Centered framework while utilizing various techniques to better understand your worldview in order to facilitate you on your journey towards your wellbeing.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Everyone is an amalgamation of their early attachments, culture, overarching environment and simultaneous global events. However, everyone is different which is why it's important to focus on the humanity that we bring forth as human beings and not just mechanical behaviors. Therapy is an emotionally taxing process and immersing in it hence can be uncomfortable, that is the beauty of the process though. Pandemics such as the COVID-19, brought to light many mental health concerns that people had been brushing under the rug for years, and so it becomes essential to engage in self-care more often than not. Also, being part of the South Asian and First-Gen college student community, I realise the amount of stigma that surrounds mental health. It's time to break barriers and invest in ourselves, for a better tomorrow. Seeking help can be challenging but by being here you’ve taken the first step already. Hopefully we can take the next steps together!
