About My Clients
I work best with clients who value a collaborative & relational approach & want to gain a better understanding of deeply held emotional beliefs that shape the way they move through the world. Many of my clients want to explore their inner world & transform patterns & beliefs that contribute to feeling "stuck". Clients I work with often identify as neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, or chronically ill, or may have experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions.
My Background and Approach
Somatic therapy can help to integrate the mind-body experience, build self-compassion, and tolerate emotions and change beliefs that make it hard to rest. My approach pulls from the Hakomi method, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Mindfulness, a non-judgmental noticing of different parts of one's self, is a core aspect of my approach. In therapy, we will study the ways that you have adapted to survive adverse experiences and will notice how those adaptations show up in your present life. By gaining a deeper understanding of one's self, we can bring compassion and reintroduce choice to patterns that have felt stuck. Therapy with me typically includes, noticing and reporting present moment feelings, reactions, and sensations, exploring what happens when something new is introduced (a belief or an idea), and learning ways expand one's ability to tolerate and attend to painful or uncomfortable emotional experiences.
