About My Clients

I counsel people who strive to excel and do good in the world. Though generally successful, they sometimes struggle to keep up and feel ineffective, overwhelmed, or isolated. They make it through each day but recognize things aren’t quite right and worry they are one crisis away from collapse. They may cope in unhealthy ways. They often call me when they experience one of life's big changes or challenges. I love helping clients recalibrate in difficult times and transitions.

My Background and Approach

Informed by 14 years of intensive counseling experience, including 8 years at Harborview Center for Sexual Assault & Traumatic Stress, I am well-prepared to provide vital support in your time of need. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who completed a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s in Marketing at Boston College. In between undergraduate and graduate studies, I served one year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps as a Social Worker for people without homes and five years as a high school Campus Minister. I approach therapy humbly, listening first, and exploring clients’ concerns, goals, strengths, and history. We collaborate to prioritize treatment goals and determine a strategic plan to meet them. As we work together, I strive to be calm, caring, hopeful, non-judgmental, good humored, and aware of potential biases associated with my social identities (race, gender, class, sexual orientation, spirituality, age, ability, etc.).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Our critical beliefs about safety, trust, power/control, esteem, relationships, and meaning making, as well as our habitual functioning are forged over time based on our experiences. Sometimes the beliefs and habits develop in ways that prove unhelpful as we mature. Taking time to recalibrate beliefs and habits and recognize their impact on emotions with a therapist is an invaluable process for growth. I treasure my professional role as a therapist. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, playing lawn sports, coaching my two young daughters’ soccer and basketball teams, cheering for Seattle sports teams, listening to music, and walking my dog. I hope you continue to think we are a good fit to work together. I extend a special invitation to those who are less likely to seek therapy in our culture impacted by toxic masculinity. Please contact me or visit my website for more info. When you're ready, schedule an appointment, so we can get started and you can feel better soon!
