About My Clients
My clients tend to be individuals or couples who are struggling with relationship issues as well as underlying trauma and anxiety which is impacting their ability to make strong relationships or just struggling to get through the day without intrusive thoughts or flashbacks.
My Background and Approach
I tend to work within an existential as well as solution focused framework when it comes to therapy. To get past all the jargon, that means I'm more present and future focused and finding ways to help you get closer to the life you want to be living. That doesn't mean we ignore the past entirely, but rather use the past as understanding for what is going on now. I will be focusing a lot on how the body is reacting to various stressors as well as exploring what you haven't tried, and more importantly, what you haven't tried to better manage your symptoms and troubles. Finding meaning for your life is something that I believe is critical and helping you live more as your authentic self.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all at some point struggle with finding meaning and purpose in our lives. Regardless of our beliefs about what happens after death, the only thing we truly know for sure is that this is the life we have and we want to make the best of it. My bachelor's degree is in film and digital media and after that I did a very short stint in medical school, two seemingly disjointed things. It wasn't until becoming a therapist did I find a way of bridging story telling and healing together. All this to say is I want to help you find your story and tell it the way you want to tell it. On a personal level, I've struggled with depression and undiagnosed ADHD so I understand when mental health can make it hard to find what you want out of your life or how to get it if you do know. I strive to make my therapy practice a safe space for all and am continuously learning how I can be better when I recognize my own shortcomings.
