About My Clients
I have extensive experience working with clients who suffer from stress, anxiety and trauma from work, relationships and life transitions as well as those who are struggling with substance use issues.
My Background and Approach
I strive to meet my clients where they are, without judgment, and help them identify the best path they see for themselves to move ahead. Using a person-centered and relational approach, I see my role as a psychotherapist similar to that of a trail guide: the client determines where they want to go and they take each step on the path. I am along to point out some important landmarks and assist when needed. Sessions with me involve, among other modalities, a combination of motivational interviewing as well as CBT, DBT, solutions-focused and narrative therapies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am heterosexual, cis, abled, white male and I continue to reflect on the privilege that has benefited me (and continues to benefit me) throughout my life. I am also a combat veteran, a husband and a new parent. Through these experiences I have learned that we can all benefit from improving our ability to identify, share and cope with our emotions in healthy ways. Having spent extensive time in communities where emotions are totally disregarded, I strive to help those who have had similar experiences find their voice.
