About My Clients
At Building Hope, we work with adults who are going through major life changes. We want to help you to learn to cope with life’s hard times, enjoy the great moments, and thrive through it all. If you are realizing your childhood didn't look like your friends', if you're starting to recognize the ways your relationships are holding you back, or if you want to understand why you keep doing the same thing that keep hurting you over and over again, we're the right fit for you.
My Background and Approach
Our therapists have a wide range of backgrounds and therapy styles. We are particularly passionate about helping young adults identify how their childhoods have impacted their current relationships and ability to make solid choices. In our sessions, you will engage in goal setting, self care planning, and relationship explorations. We will help you make connections between the past, present, and future, all while holding you in a space that is empathetic, supportive, and encouraging.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our owner, Mikaela, started this practice because she believes that everyone should have access to therapy, regardless of where they live, who they love, what they believe, or the struggles that they have been through. Mikaela is passionate about helping young adults heal from trauma because she wished that someone had helped her when she was in college the way that she needed. We are a team of Social Workers who hold so many different identities between us - queer, BIPOC, children of immigrants, women, deeply concerned with what is happening on our country. We all work in private practice part time, while engaging in different mental health spaces for our day jobs (except Mikaela, who is trying to run the business, see clients, raise a baby, and keep her cool). We have worked in crisis spaces, with severe in persistent mental illnesses, in positions that have required us to work closely with the government in times of turmoil.
