About My Clients
Whether you are experiencing day-to-day stress, big life transitions, depression and anxiety, the impacts of trauma, I want to partner with you to explore and address these challenges in a way that helps you feel more equipped to manage them well. I hope to be a supportive and compassionate resource of encouragement and challenge toward the growth you want to see for yourself! Therapy is hard work and I'm here to assist with that big commitment to the self!
My Background and Approach
I have experience in the mental healthcare field since 2015; starting out as a volunteer in a behavioral health hospital, moving into case management for a mental health agency working in underserved communities then into counseling/therapy in 2019 where I have been since. My theoretical approach started in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I've come to included aspects of other approaches into my practice including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, narrative therapy and humanistic/person-centered therapy. I'm all about tailoring my approach to best fit a person's needs and life to aid in the consistency and commitment to self that the process of therapy offers us the opportunity for.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have always have been a people person and an optimist! I believe in the goodness of people, even though life has shaken that belief a handful of times! I value humor, kindness, honesty, love, gratitude and authenticity. I'm human so I miss the mark sometimes but I try very hard to show up for myself and others with these values guiding me as much as possible. I have a handful of people and two corgis who mean the world to me and I love nature, dancing, yoga, yummy foods and a good singing real loud in the car moment. I've come to learn that life can be really hard and we have to give ourselves the permission to bask in, sometimes even create, the good moments that keep us going!
