About My Clients

Are you someone who is gifted and experience challenges in this area such as imposter syndrome, underachievement, perfectionism, and gifted intensities? Maybe there are events that are holding you back in your life? Or the anxiety or depression is a stronghold that won't loosen their grips? If any of this sounds familiar, you do not have to walk this time alone. I come along side people as they work on these areas so that they have the opportunity to have growth and healing.

My Background and Approach

Nine years as a gifted specialist in the school setting I saw the need for counselors who could integrate gifted characteristics and strengths. At the same time, those struggling with trauma, or those who feel that anxiety or depression rule their lives needed a place where they could grow beyond the present and seen beyond a list of symptoms. This goes with my belief that every one is an individual and that the whole person needs to considered, including their values, likes, dislikes, and strengths so that everyone has the opportunity for maximum growth and healing. My approaches also follows this as we come together for styles of treatment for the goals that you want to work on during your time in a session. Some of the approaches I use are strengths based, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I also bring in techniques from other approaches that fit with the person and what that person is working on at that time.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a person I am creative and out of the box, learning to use my gifted traits and intensities as strengths rather than only seeing their challenges. My religious beliefs are Christian and they guide how I make my decisions. Integrating my faith has become an important part of my life. One way I do this is by volunteering for a Christian mental health support group. While my faith is important I also understand that my beliefs and the beliefs of others could be different and I respect that. I love animals, especially beagles and I adopt or foster the senior ones. Seeing their potential and bringing it out is such a joy. My current beagle's name is Evie, and she is almost 9 years old. I also have a cat, Kacie that was found abandoned as a young kitten.
