I received specialized training in play therapy at the University of North Texas, through my Master's in Counseling program. I follow the child-centered play therapy philosophies, which emphasize the child's autonomy, authentic expression, and healing through the therapist's ability to connect with them. Children can choose whichever mode of communication they are most comfortable (whether verbal or non-verbal, play or non-play), and I meet them where they're at.

Play therapy uses the mode of communication that comes most naturally to children; just like adults use words to express themselves, children use toys. I am trained to recognize the symbolism in play and how children's play reflects their inner worlds and struggles. By engaging them in play, I help them to expand their understanding of themselves, their ability to relate in healthy ways to others, and their ability to respond in healthy ways to their emotions.
