About My Clients

I believe therapy can be vital in understanding and taking responsibility for our choices and areas of growth, making appropriate changes to live more engaged and meaningful lives, and reflecting on values. My clients are often curious about their thinking and behavior, willing to challenges themselves, while at the same times accepting of who they genuinely are.

My Background and Approach

I am a board certified adult psychiatrist licensed in New York. I received my BA in biology from Siena College with an emphasis in humanities, ethics, and social service. I attended Albany Medical College for medical school and completed an adult psychiatric residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. I also carried out a psychoanalytic psychotherapy fellowship as part of the New York Psychoanalytic Training Institute. People are multi-faceted and nuanced; treatment should be as well.I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy but also use modalities such as CBT, DBT, IFS and an interpersonal framework according to what a client needs. In addition, I am a trained psychopharmacologist and utilize medications as a tool that can help with treatment.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I tend to approach my work with three general assumptions: (1) People are generally doing their best with the tools that they have, (2) Recognizing patterns in our behavior help us understand the roots and how to make sustainable change, (3) People can and will change when they understand their own behavior, are seen, heard, and empowered. Working off these assumptions, I hope to help you live your life authentically and reach your ultimate goals. I believe exploring your mental health is an act of courage. It is an extension of our wellness, a chance to explore our identity, and a radical act of empowerment. We all hold multifaceted identities as parents, grandparents, siblings, children, employees, and members of our communities . At the same time, we wonder how to stay true to who we truly are apart from these labels. You may want to identify patterns in behavior or process different aspects of your life that have created challenges. This is the right place for you.
