I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 25 years of supporting clients with managing stress and anxiety.
Counselor in West Bloomfield, MI
For over 25 years, I have worked with individuals and led groups and workshops on a variety of women's health and wellness issues including family stress, career challenges, relationships, depression, and nutrition.
Many of my clients through the years have been overworked, overcommitted and felt undervalued at their places of employment. I have successfully helped many men and women in their quest for a more fulfilling career path. I have also addressed caregiver burnout; this is a huge concern as many are taking care of loved ones.
Anxiety is at the forefront of much of the stressors we have; it is particularly high for marginalized groups. In addition to supporting clients with managing anxiety, I have worked with Black students and Black professionals in addressing and recognizing racist systems and how to navigate oppression in their day-to-day existence.
Mindfulness, an important part of self-acceptance, is a beautiful approach to giving yourself grace surrounding your challenges. It takes the "pressure" off of trying to be "perfect" and allows you to just live "as is" and adjust as you feel comfortable. My clients have found that this approach is calming and affirming for their lives. ACT allows a person to understand and observe that stressors come into one's life, but instead of resisting, learn to manage their state of being.
In my coaching sessions, I guide clients through an empowering set of visioning exercises, journaling prompts, personal guidance and real-life assignments that increase confidence, and clarity on your personal and professional visions. One size does NOT fit all in therapy and culture plays a HUGE role in that. With each therapy intervention that we collaboratively work on, your culture and values are at the forefront and will be honored in our therapeutic relationship.
I truly believe that "as you think, so you are". So much of what we are going through can often be improved just from changing our perspective on the situation. CBT is a great modality for reframing our thinking about our daily situations and therefore regaining our power over situations that may be causing us stress.
