About My Clients
Are you a solution seeker that wants to enact change? Examining problems requires help of an honest, direct, solution focused clinician with a concrete approach. Anxiety, co-dependent patterns ("people pleasing") or just trying to understand an experience to determine next steps look different when explored thru a "curious" approach. A solution focused approach operates on reason and concrete actions to take fostering hope.
My Background and Approach
I am a solution focused therapist that utilizes a client's natural curiosity to explore possibilities and solutions interacting with my clients directly. During my clinical career working with individuals that have included first responders and abuse survivors, individuals want practical solutions and help given who they are and what they have experienced. I work best with individuals that would be considered "seekers": individuals committed to the action of change. By applying curiosity toward self, judgement is lessened and practical solutions are then presented. Thru the examination of boundaries, balance behaviors and "tuning in" to oneself, many find the answers right there. I help individuals "make sense" of the "whys" of defenses, panic and circular patterns. How is this trying to protect you? If you let this go, what happens then? We start with you: where you are at and the direction you want to go.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a passionate believer in the beauty of a life created by the building and practicing of boundaries. As a therapist my main role is to protect the therapeutic process by engaging a therapist, not a friend: modeling appropriation. Past and current clients have reported the most significant skill acquired during their time in sessions was the "B" word: boundaries. I became a therapist to aid individuals, who want to work on themselves: moving from victim to victor. Therapy is moving from one shore to another by performing the work of rowing one's boat. A "You got this" helps direct and keep the work focused on the client: NOT on changing someone else. The work works, if you work it.
