About My Clients
Do you struggle to understand your feelings and needs? Are you worried that if you express them, it’ll escalate things? Through therapy, we can work together to identify your feelings, the underlying contributors, and express them in a healthy, constructive way. Over time, you may find your relationships improving as you become more present. You may also find yourself feeling freer and less tense.
My Background and Approach
I work from a relational psychodynamic perspective, which means that the therapeutic relationship is an important part of healing, and we can try to understand your relationships better through what happens in therapy. When appropriate and when someone is interested, I offer medication management in combination with therapy. This involves careful assessment and discussion of the risks and benefits of the different options, so that you can make the decision that is right for you. I completed medical school and residency at Harvard and fellowship at Columbia. I try to stay up-to-date with the latest evidence and have served on the American Psychiatric Association's Practice Guidelines Committee, helping to set national standards for care. I have a particular interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and am pursuing advanced training at the William Alanson White Institute. I treat you as a person and work together to find an approach that is helpful for you.
