About My Clients
Our clients often feel pressure to have it all together while struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, intimacy, or relationships. We specialize in supporting men and couples and welcome people of all genders, including teens and LGBTQ+ clients. Some are new to therapy; others want a more direct, practical approach. Whether you're feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed, you deserve a space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and build skills for meaningful change.
My Background and Approach
MisterHealth was founded by Dr. Michael Stokes, a licensed mental health counselor and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, to make therapy more approachable and responsive to the challenges men face. We specialize in men's mental and sexual health while welcoming clients of all genders, couples, teens, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Our approach is direct, compassionate, and collaborative. You don't need to have the right words or have everything figured out to get started. We create space for honest conversations about anxiety, depression, relationships, intimacy, identity, and life's pressures—without shame or judgment. Our clinicians draw on evidence-based approaches and tailor therapy to your needs, strengths, and goals. Together, we help you understand patterns, build practical coping skills, communicate more openly, and strengthen connections. We believe therapy should feel human, useful, and grounded in what matters to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people deserve to feel understood, respected, and supported without having to hide parts of themselves. I know how meaningful it is to find spaces where you can show up fully. LGBTQ+ affirmation, inclusion, and respect for diverse identities and relationships are central to my values and the mission of MisterHealth. I’m passionate about challenging the idea that men should simply “man up,” suppress their emotions, or handle everything alone. Men deserve opportunities to develop emotional awareness, ask for help, and build healthier relationships. Supporting men’s mental health also means encouraging accountability, respecting boundaries, and recognizing how our actions affect others. Our approach is sex-positive and grounded in consent, autonomy, and mutual respect. we believe conversations about sexuality, intimacy, and pleasure belong in healthcare without shame or judgment.
