About My Clients
Our work might involve making sense of and deciding what to do about a troubled relationship; dealing with the demands of a stressful job; addressing persistent mood issues; or dealing with a difficult situation. I tend to be more successful working with clients who have clear goals in mind, a desire for shorter-term therapy, and a need for interaction and feedback during meetings. If we are working well together, it's not unreasonable to see some progress early on in the process.
My Background and Approach
I work with ethnically, culturally and sexually diverse adults, helping them look at their emotions, thoughts, and behavior; how they relate to each other: and their impact on relationships, career, and self-esteem. As a couples counselor, help partners resolve conflicts through better communication and workable compromises. Couples work on achieving specific, behavioral agreements in the areas that are hurting their relationships, which may involve money, sex, social interaction, in-laws, parenting, or household responsibilities. Establish clear guidelines and techniques to improve communication, which involve stopping toxic interactions, not bringing up the negative past, and avoiding the blame game. As a career coach, work with individuals experiencing problems in the workplace, often involving conflict with bosses, co-workers or subordinates. Strategize on improving job performance, navigating organizational politics, and helping with career transitions.
