About My Clients
I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship challenges. You may feel stuck in patterns you’re ready to break free from but unsure how to start. Using the collaborative LifeMaps treatment plan, we will explore how your past has shaped your present and work to build self-awareness, uncover strengths, and foster change. My experience as a gay man raised in the South gives me a unique perspective that informs my understanding of cultural and family dynamics.
My Background and Approach
My approach is an integration of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral modalities, which means I will explore the way you experienced the world from birth until present in order to identify habits and behaviors that have become roadblocks to living in alignment with the person you want to be. By tracing present-day patterns back to their origins and understanding how they’ve developed over time, psychodynamic therapy helps people live more meaningful lives. An essential part of this work is the relationship that forms between therapist and client. The relationship should allow space for curiosity and honesty, even around the most sensitive topics. Once trust begins to take shape, therapy can bring about greater emotional awareness and liveliness, often improving how we relate to ourselves and others. I offer weekly in-person and virtual therapy sessions at a sliding scale of $10-50. My office is in the Kerns neighborhood in Portland.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I see therapy as a collaboration built trust, curiosity, and honesty. My approach is warm and steady, with room for humor when it fits. I believe that change begins when you can speak freely, even about things that feel uncomfortable or hard to name. Over time, that process can bring relief, clarity, and a deeper sense of connection to yourself and others. My goal is to create a space where you are safe to explore the uncomfortable. I welcome humor in therapy and offer a warm, judgment-free environment, where we can work together to navigate challenges, uncover your strengths, and make meaningful changes.
