About My Clients
I enjoy working with men who are contemplating big life decisions, coping with a loss, or just struggling to find their way in the world of work and relationships. I believe that pain and suffering are part of being human, but they do not have to be a permanent, all-consuming state of affairs. Healing and growth are always possible, but require hard work, compassion, understanding, and lots of honest, difficult talk. If this sounds appealing to you, then we might be a good fit.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My formal training is rooted in the Existential-Phenomenological, Humanistic, and Psychoanalytic schools of therapy. I also incorporate ideas from CBT, ACT, IFS, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness Meditation. Ultimately, I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative one in which you and I come together to make better sense of your situation: you are the expert in your own experience; I am here to facilitate your process of exploration. Prior to entering private practice, I worked in a community mental health setting, providing psychotherapy to adult clients who struggle with a wide range of chronic and severe mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex trauma, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. In a prior career, I was an attorney and spent nearly a decade adjudicating disability compensation claims for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
