About My Clients

I have worked in behavioral/cognitive health day programs, a psychiatric hospital, behavioral/developmental health organizations, youth organizations, and have worked in both affluent and impoverished communities. I am very passionate in working in the mental health field including working within the LGBTQ+ community and with the maturing LGBTQ population.

My Background and Approach

I bring nearly 20 years of combined professional and volunteer experience in the mental and behavioral health field. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of populations, including individuals in behavioral and cognitive health day programs, psychiatric hospital settings, youth and community-based organizations, and behavioral/developmental health programs. My experience spans both affluent neighborhoods and communities significantly impacted by poverty, giving me a deep appreciation for the different ways people navigate life’s challenges. For the past 15 years, I have also served as a volunteer Peer Counselor at the William Way Community Center—an experience that has brought me immense joy, meaning, and purpose. As a gay man and long-standing member of the LGBTQ+ community, this work is especially important to me. I believe strongly in giving back to the community that shaped me, supported me, and continues to inspire me.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in creating a safe, affirming, and non-judgmental space where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. As a gay man and active member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am committed to giving back to the community that has shaped me. With nearly 20 years of professional and volunteer experience in mental and behavioral health—and 15 years as a Peer Counselor at the William Way Community Center—I have supported individuals across diverse identities, backgrounds, and life experiences. I am especially passionate about serving the maturing and older LGBTQ+ population, whose stories and needs often go overlooked. My work is grounded in compassion, authenticity, cultural humility, and a deep belief in each person’s resilience and capacity for healing and growth. My goal is to offer a supportive therapeutic space where clients can explore their experiences with openness, empowerment, and dignity.
