Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Bloomfield, NJ
I have a well developed tool kit for treating anxiety, the most common of all mental health problems. As with all effective therapy, the approach must be matched to the individual's preferences and needs. Different evidence-based approaches I use to treat anxiety include cognitive restructuring, mindfulness/relaxation training, and solution-focused interventions. Anxiety can be a signal that helps us to tune in to what changes we need to make to live more satisfying and fulfilling lives.
As a clinical social worker, I always view the problems that bring people to therapy as connected to their significant relationships. Unraveling and resolving conflict is one of the specialized skills I've developed over my years of doing couple's and family therapy. I use a strengths perspective in combination with family therapy techniques to help a couple or family recognize and change unhealthy interaction patterns and reach compromise solutions.
I take an individualized approach to treating depression since the causes and symptoms vary. When depression is tied to relationship problems, I use an interpersonal approach. If negative thinking is the main factor, cognitive therapy works well. I match the treatment to the client's unique circumstances and keep abreast of best practices.
