About My Clients
I like to use a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing to quickly identify coping strategies that can help manage any emotional turmoil you are experiencing. My goal in the therapeutic process is for us to have some movement and success within a short period of time (4 to 5 weeks), rather than gearing up for years of psychotherapy treatment that feels exhausting and draining.
My Background and Approach
I graduated from Baptist Bible College in 2003 and was married to my wonderful wife, Jennifer, in that same year. I started working as an Assistant Pastor in 2003 as well, and found that the ministry was not a good fit for our family. I transitioned to working as a Police Officer for about 2 years, and then entered the Social Work field in 2007. At that point I discovered my passion for helping people overcome difficult circumstances in their lives and obtained my Master of Social Work in 2011 and have been practicing individual and family counseling since 2016. I have found that using a unique approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy can bring about lasting results that take just a few weeks to develop and implement. My goal is to help clients see measurable improvement in their situation in just 4 to 5 weeks of treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a professing Christian and I believe that everyone deserves loving, individualized and professional care in therapy treatment whether we agree or disagree in core beliefs. I have always ascribed to the practice that the focus is on the client and their needs, and I am able to separate my own biases in therapy to focus on the best interest of my clients. This core tenant is why I am open to seeing anyone from all walks of life. If you are my client then I can promise that my focus will be to help you achieve success and health based on your own belief's and bias, and not on my own.
