About My Clients
I work best with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or worn down by stress, grief, depression, trauma, or major life changes. I specialize in working with veterans, first responders, veterinary professionals, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. If you've been carrying everyone else while neglecting yourself, grieving a loss others expect you to be "over" by now, questioning norms you've always followed, or standing on the edge of a change that feels both exciting and terrifying, you are not alone.
My Background and Approach
I use CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused techniques, but honestly, I also use humor, real talk, and the occasional well-timed joke. Therapy doesn't have to feel heavy every single session. In our first meeting, we'll figure out what you want to be different and build a plan you can actually use right away. I'm not here to lecture you or read from a script. I meet you where you are. I'm a combat veteran, a former trauma RN, and I spent twelve years in veterinary medicine. I know what it's like to carry a lot and pretend you're fine. Whether you wear a uniform, a badge, or scrubs, I get it. Many of my clients have told me they feel safe talking about things they've never said out loud before, including sexual abuse/violence and impossible decisions they've carried alone for years. That trust means everything to me. Sessions with me are practical, grounded, and sometimes even funny. No insurance hoops, no one else deciding your care. Just you, me, and the work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a firm believer that social justice is inseparable from mental health care. I'm guided by the NASW Code of Ethics and its call to challenge social injustice and promote fairness for all people. I volunteer with AMVETS, served as an elected officer for the NAACP, and stay actively engaged in veteran advocacy and civil rights. I'm also a U.S. Army combat veteran, and that experience shaped how I show up for the people I work with. Access to care and fairness for all is not just something I talk about in session; it's how I live. I believe everyone deserves a therapist who sees them fully, without judgment, regardless of identity, background, or what they've been through. You shouldn't have to edit yourself to get help. Outside of therapy, you'll find me with too much coffee, my 4 cats, and a strong opinion about pretty much everything.
