About My Clients
My strength is supporting clients adjusting to life changes such as vision loss, new diagnoses, anxiety, a loss of purpose or disabilities, by helping them build independence and confidence. I assist parents and children in securing IEPs and special education resources. My experience includes helping people manage depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. I offer a supportive space where clients can explore challenges, build skills, and rediscover their strength and resilience.
My Background and Approach
In addition to being certified in telehealth and complex trauma, I am a licensed master social worker with experience supporting individuals with disabilities and people with vision loss in particular. As a result of my own vision loss, I can empathize with the challenges faced by people with disabilities. My background in counseling, advocacy, and independent living training allows me to offer both emotional guidance and practical tools for everyday life. I focus on helping clients build confidence, manage stress, and adjust to life transitions with resilience. My goal is to create a compassionate space where you feel supported and empowered to move forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in equality, dignity, and the right of every person to live a fulfilling life regardless of ability or circumstance. My work is grounded in empathy, inclusion, and social justice—values that guide how I connect with clients and advocate within my community. Outside of counseling, I am actively involved in outreach and education efforts that promote accessibility, disability awareness, and independent living for people with vision loss. For example, in 2023, I spearheaded an effort that spurred the Virginia legislature to pass a law promoting the hiring of people with disabilities by local government. I am passionate about creating environments where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported on their path to growth and self-acceptance.
