About My Clients
Most of the people I work with are adults, often men, who look like they're managing and underneath are running on empty. They've leaned on overwork, drinking, numbing, or willpower to hold it together, and it's stopped working. Some are in recovery. Many wouldn't use that word. What they share is exhaustion, and a sense they're surviving their life instead of living it. Underneath is usually trauma, grief, or lost meaning. I help by slowing down and getting honest about what isn't working.
My Background and Approach
I hold an MSW and an Advanced Clinical Behavioral certificate from Colorado State University, and I'm a Licensed Social Worker practicing under supervision while earning independent licensure. My background spans addiction, co-occurring mental health, and complex trauma. My work is relational and experiential before it's technical. I lean on ACT, person-centered, and existential approaches, using story and metaphor to get underneath the words. CBT and DBT come in when structure helps.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe most suffering comes from disconnection, from ourselves, from others, from a sense of meaning. I don't think anyone is broken, and I don't work like I have your answers. My job is to help you find your own footing and the tools to stay standing, not to keep you coming back to me. Outside of work I keep bees and play guitar. I bring years in community life and learning to this work, and I'm at home with people from many walks of life and belief, secular, questioning, or devout.
