Mia Mattingly

Hey! I’m Mia. I love my job, and I’d probably love to be your therapist. I'm nerdy, warm, direct, and (occasionally) funny.

About My Clients

I work with teens, adults, and couples/intimate partnerships that want help navigating neurodivergence, trauma/PTSD, and associated symptoms. I have a special interest in ADHD in girls/women, late diagnosed neurodivergence, neurodiverse couples, and complex trauma. My clients know that I value and care about them, that I understand them, and that I can challenge them in ways that feel helpful and empowering.

My Background and Approach

My approach can be summed up in a sentence: Humans make sense. There's a reason -- probably several -- that you grew into the person you are. Your brain did its best to arrange itself in a way to keep you alive and safe. But sometimes, those survival strategies end up costing you more than you benefit, and that's where our work starts. We will explore the coping skills you already have, identify how and when your brain decides to use them, and work on new ways to navigate the world that are in line with the kind of person you want to be. My approach is systems-oriented and anti-oppressive. I strive to bring awareness to the myriad systems -- structural, political, cultural, historical -- that work on us every single day, in every interaction we have. I prioritize building a strong relationship with my clients to cultivate a space they can see themselves growing in for a long time. Our relationship is an investment that we both make, because that is how the best work gets done.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in food, housing, healthcare, and education as human rights, that therapy should be accessible for all, that people have a right to choose whether or not to be pregnant/be a parent, and that capitalism is evil (among other things). I am neurodivergent myself, in a neurodiverse partnership. I identify as asexual. I also belong to professional organizations that incorporate my beliefs, including Pro-Choice therapists and Neurodivergent-Affirming therapists.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
