About My Clients
My clients are from many walks of life. I provide group art therapy sessions to refugees and their families. For individuals who have recently resettled, art therapy offers a chance to engage and heal together. I specialize in medically complex children and their families as well. I work with children and families who are hospitalized, recently returned from the hospital, or are managing a life threatening illness. I identify as LGBTQ, and many of my clients identify as LGBTQAII+
My Background and Approach
I abide by the G.L.A.M. model Gender and Life Affirming Medicine! I have been actively working to deconstruct my own attitudes as a result of being trained and living with a Eurocentric lens. I utilize nature based art therapy, which means we work with the reciprocity of nature in our art making. I integrate visual art, music, movement, and understanding the natural history of a place to understand, heal, and thrive. As an eco-therapist and outdoor educator, I incorporate the Forest School Model. At times we engage in interactions with animals during our sessions to connect and harmonize.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Making mental health services accessible to Trans youth and their families, creating group support for LGBTQAII+ teens. Working with people through art and movement to heal from addictions, depression and anxiety. I am a Queer, white bodied therapist, I understand that it can be difficult to heal in the same system in which one was harmed. I encourage people to engage in their home language which lends itself beautifully to the creative arts. We work together outdoors in Alameda. At this time I am not paneled with any insurance company.
