About My Clients
My clients are often people who feel othered by the world: queer, neurodivergent, gifted, highly sensitive, or living with the effects of trauma. Often folks are looking for a space to redefine what they believe they deserve, and collaborate on reinforcing and deepening a sense of deservingness of healthy, loving connections, life fulfillment, embodiment, and actual joy, in exactly the form these take for you specifically. We find the way that is right for you and we move that way.
My Background and Approach
I am primarily a relational therapist, meaning I think the most powerful part of therapy is how our relationship built on safety, respect, and communication can serve as a space to experience a healthy relationship and provide skills that generalize to other relationships. In addition, I utilize Somatic-Focused therapy, Psychoanalytic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR in my day-to-day toolkit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a social worker, so I am educated to think from a social constructionist, systems level perspective. That means I believe much of the suffering we treat as therapists firmly has its roots in capitalism, colonialism, cisheteropatriarchy, and white supremacy. Rather than treating you like you're sick, I am looking for ways to support you so that you can be an empowered advocate in your own life and resist oppression as an individual and as a person in solidarity with all the others who are pinched by that same thing. I want to be a thorn in the side of systemic oppression and hope you will join me in that pursuit in our work together. :) In the past I have had lived experiences with C-PTSD, regular old PTSD, abusive relationships, neurodivergence, and existential depression and anxiety related to being a human. I personally think it's really important to draw strength and inspiration from the great mystery, however you relate to it. For me that's nature and music. Magic seems real!
