About My Clients
I have been working in the space of primary mental health treatment and addictions treatment ranging from individual therapy, clinics, to court-mandated, and outpatient to residential treatment over the span of my career. Populations that I serve range from mood disorders, personality disorders, life-transition issues, and trauma-therapy. I am culturally competent in treating first responders - LEO, FD, EMT/Paramedics, Dispatch, Corrections, Active Military, & Veterans.
My Background and Approach
Traditionally, I have practiced from a psychodynamic approach. However, over the years I have transitioned to a multifaceted approach incorporating a Psychodynamic modality with EMDR, Performance Psychology, and Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy (HCH). HCH is a much deeper process of psychotherapy which is achieved through a relaxed state of consciousness. HCH embraces the concept of self-determination and the belief that every client contains, deep within their own subconscious mind, the key to their own individual health and healing. HCH is an experiential therapy. We identify core feelings, overcome limiting beliefs, interrupt unhealthy behavioral patterns, and increase self-awareness by discovering, leaning in, and moving through. In HCH, an individual experiences visceral reactions in the body in which we work to release those energetic charges of emotions trapped within the body.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The link between our emotional and mental wellness is undeniable - How our body feels impacts our emotions. Emotions are physical and we can be unaware of how our body is storing stress and trauma. Because trauma is fundamentally a manifestation of nervous system dysregulation, it becomes an existential mandate to disrupt the trauma response.
