About My Clients
Do you identify with any of the following? First-gen: balancing the "child of immigrant parents" guilt with the pressure to succeed in Western professional spaces. A "cycle breaker" individuals who have taken on the heavy lifting of identifying and healing generational wounds. The "third identity" a person who feels caught between two worlds—never "enough" for their ancestral culture and never fully seen by the dominant one. If you do, I am the right therapist for you.
My Background and Approach
MY BACKGROUND: I am a Guatemalan, bilingual, queer trauma-informed therapist dedicated to helping queer, Indigenous, and first generation folx unburden their ancestral lineages and reclaim their embodied power through a decolonized blend of IFS and Somatic healing. MY APPROACH: Have you ever felt like your mind is a paradox? One part of you wants to move forward, while another part feels paralyzed by fear. This conflict doesn't just stay in our heads, it shows up as a tight chest, heart palpitations, headaches, or constant fatigue. In my practice, I bridge the gap between your story and your physical experience. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), we’ll get to know the different "parts" of your personality, even the ones that feel loud or self-sabotaging, with compassion. At the same time, through Somatic Therapy, we’ll listen to how your body is holding onto past stress, generational trauma and intense feelings that feel stuck.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that integrating ancestral practices and reconnecting with our identities and roots help us create community. Isolation is where shame lives; community is where it goes to heal. I also believe that therapy is political, your mental health and wellness isn't an individual issue, but a collective one. My aim is to serve those who are and have been historically marginalized and oppressed. Your voice and space is a form of radical healing. Some things about my interests: I love bringing music and reading into a therapeutic space. I'm a big PC game and dabble in Dungeons & Dragons. I love speaking with clients about political movements.
