About My Clients
I work with individuals and couples interested in making space to explore the things that often don’t get enough space in everyday life. I believe that awareness leads to choice, and that in therapy we can co-create a space to explore your experiences. Identities and topics I often work with include: self-esteem/boundaries, cross cultural relationships, gender & sexuality, adult children of NPD/BPD parents, sex workers, pregnancy & parenting, spiritual inquiry, life transitions, and integration.
My Background and Approach
Before becoming a therapist I studied fine arts, worked in media, returned to school, studied gender & sexuality, and worked as a sexual health educator. I completed the Integral Counseling Psychology program at the California Institute of Integral Studies and pursued additional training at the Church St. Integral Counseling Center. I currently work with the Bay Area Gestalt Institute where my practice is informed by Existential Phenomenology, Attachment, Liberation Psychology, Developmental Couples Therapy, and the natural world. In therapy I try to achieve a balance between doing and being. I’m not hands off— I won’t only listen and reflect, but I do believe that you are the expert of your experience. I support clients in better understanding themselves by bringing curiosity, identifying patterns, using metaphor, building a therapeutic relationship, and also through more structured exercises & tools where helpful.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that awareness leads to choice, and that change occurs by being with what is rather than willing it to be different. My work is intersubjective and informed by my own experiences in therapy, along with the awareness that people are unique: what works for some doesn’t work for others. My hope is not to know exactly what my clients need, but to support them in identifying and naming their own unique needs and boundaries.
