About My Clients
I work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, perfectionism, people-pleasing, trauma, relationship stress, and life transitions. You or your child may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I especially enjoy helping people better understand themselves, build confidence, develop healthier coping skills, and feel more secure in who they are—all in a warm, supportive, judgment-free space.
My Background and Approach
I’m Melissa, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Edinboro University. Since 2013, I’ve worked with children, teens, adults, and families across community mental health, school-based therapy, residential treatment, child welfare, and hospital settings. This diverse experience helps me understand challenges within the bigger picture of your life, relationships, and experiences. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, and Trauma-Focused CBT, adapting therapy to your individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I’ll meet you where you are, help you better understand yourself and the patterns keeping you stuck, and work alongside you to build practical skills, confidence, and meaningful change. Above all, I want therapy to be a space where you feel safe, heard, and genuinely understood.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every person deserves to feel heard, valued, and accepted without judgment. Life can be complicated, and I don’t believe therapy is about telling you how to live or expecting you to have everything figured out. Instead, I believe in meeting you where you are, recognizing your strengths, and helping you move toward the person and life you want to build. My Christian faith shapes the compassion, hope, and respect I bring to my work. For clients who desire it, I am happy to incorporate Christian faith, prayer, Scripture, or spiritual values into therapy. However, faith is never a requirement or expectation. If you prefer therapy without a spiritual focus, I will fully respect that. Regardless of your beliefs or background, my goal is to provide a welcoming space where you can be authentically yourself and know that you are worthy of dignity, compassion, and support.
