I am an addiction specialist. Currently my work is primarily with people engaged in compulsive sexual behavior and people who abuse alcohol and/or drugs. I prefer to work with people who are very sure they want to change their compulsive behavior. I may refer clients to 12-step programs or to medical specialists for evaluation. For treatment of over-drinking I often recommend the Sinclair Method or other Harm-Reduction interventions.
I am trained to Level II in EMDR by Francine Shapiro and have practiced this therapy for many years. I use EMDR extensively to treat a wide variety of traumas, and I also use approved therapeutic offshoots of EMDR to address compulsive behaviors, dissociated parts of oneself, and other special issues. I am careful to enhance your strengths and sense of safety, and work with you on the issues that you would like to resolve.

Using DBT, assertiveness skills training, yogic and breathing techniques, lifestyle and sleep changes, I can help you calm and manage the whirling thoughts and fearful bodily sensations that we call anxiety.
I have a specialty in addiction treatment. I can help you free yourself of addictive and compulsive habits of behavior. I work on building a life worth living so that turning away from destructive habits becomes a more natural choice. In some cases abstinence is a necessary or desired outcome, in others we may work on a Harm Reduction model. I often recommend the Sinclair Method to engage clients with alcohol abuse issues who do not want to use a 12-step abstinence approach. I am here to serve your best Self.
I use any therapy that will work to relieve your distress if you are experiencing PTSD. I will focus on how to manage the present, and then help you heal your relationship with the past. I have extensive training and experience in the effects of trauma and the treatment of trauma using a wide variety of therapies: EMDR and various associated protocols, Somatic Experiencing, Kundalini Yoga Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique. I am trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy but I prefer to use more effective techniques.
