About My Clients
I serve Adults, Couples, and Adolescents 17-19, including LGBTQA Individuals and Couples. I can help if you are ready to leave behind addictive or compulsive behaviors. I have expertise that will help free you from the grip of past traumas. I can help you solve and manage relationship problems.
My Background and Approach
I offer respectful confidential counseling to help you: * Get 'unstuck' with Brief Therapy; * Build on strengths to make desired changes for personal transformation; * Learn to listen and be heard, love and be loved; * Free yourself from addictions, addictive relationships, compulsive behaviors related to eating, sexuality, shopping, internet use, obsessive jealousy; * Work through grief, loss, abuse, illness, trauma, and difficult transitions; * Prevent debilitating patterns of depression, unmanageable anxiety, or rage; * Heal emotional reactivity and stop hurting yourself and those you love. I have an MA in Counseling Psychology, Addictions Specialization. I use DBT; EMDR; Gestalt Therapy; Somatic Experiencing and other mind/body therapies (breath, awareness, movement, imagery); Kundalini Yoga as a healing practice; Active Imagination; and Assertiveness Skills. I worked for 7 years at DePaul Treatment Center as Counselor and Clinical Supervisor prior to going into private practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Each of us can learn and change. Through our repeated behaviors, we have constructed habits, we have trained our brains. Those habits can be changed, and it's not as difficult as it seems. You can learn the skills to find peace in your heart, to be fully present in your life, to enjoy and be grateful for the awesome experience of living, and to get along with others in a way that is nurturing and memorable.
