About My Clients
Play therapy is to children what talk therapy is to adults, using the child's natural language of play to process their inner world in the presence of Registered Play Therapist. In family and individual therapy, we manage stressors and pressures to navigate generational trauma and guide reparenting. We provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment to process feelings and experiences. With a blended approach, we navigate life's challenges to facilitate lifelong wellness for all ages.
My Background and Approach
Empower yourself to facilitate healing and growth in a safe and caring space. Gain the skills needed to rise above life’s challenges or after reaching an impasse. We utilize a variety of therapeutic methods and enlist the components of a combination of methods and interventions. Our therapeutic treatment modalities include, but are not limited to, Person- and Child-Centered Therapies, Attachment Therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Perinatal Mental Health Counseling, Play Therapy (www.a4pt.org), Sand Tray Therapy, Animal-Assisted Therapy, and more. When the willingness and desire to introduce change and embrace growth is present, there is healing. Self-compassion is essential.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Melissa is the proud Founder and Owner of Lifelong Wellness Center Counseling, PLLC. She is fully trained in EMDR and uses Playful EMDR. She has worked with children and families in the schools and in the community. Melissa enjoys staying active, exploring the outdoors, and loves entertaining during BBQ cookouts and bonfires with her therapeutic goldendoodles. An old proverb says, “A body heals with play, the mind heals with laughter, and the spirit heals with joy.” Authenticity: We remain authentic and genuine with clients. Affirmation: We value and respect diversity and pledge inclusivity and affirmation in cultural and gender identity. Humor: We blend laughter and crying. Self-Care: It can be so easy to put yourself on the back burner. Allow yourself to tend to your nutrition, exercise, stress management, and sleep hygiene. Community: It takes a village. Compassion: Embrace your imperfection. You are enough, always. Acceptance: Welcome, and come as you are!
