I offer virtual sessions in North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and Colorado. Walking this therapeutic path is a sacred journey and I am honored to support you in it. My approach looks at the whole person; from the mental, physical, creative, intellectual and spiritual, and draws from your own unique needs, experience and callings. Practice specialities include: life transitions, anxiety, trauma, relationship and codependency issues, ADHD, depression.

My Background and Approach

My work background includes practicing as a Clinical Therapist in schools, on pueblos, in psychiatric facilities, in emergency room departments, residential treatment centers , homeless shelters and private practice. I am founder and psychotherapist of Smiling Sage Therapy PLLC. The name “Smiling Sage” honors the wise Sages of our world that have found inner peace and wisdom through practices I would like to share with you. The name also references your own inner wisdom and the smiling wise one already in your heart waiting to overflow into your life. My approach to therapy is an integration of western psychology with the eastern and western wisdom and religious traditions. My approach embraces the psychology of the mind AND the spirituality of the heart. I provide a non-judgmental and empathetic space for exploring the deeper meaning of the circumstances you are in with the intention of moving towards balance, wholeness and joy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I obtained my BA in Cultural Anthropology with Minors in Religious Studies, Eastern Studies, and Latin American Studies from Colorado State University. I traveled to Nepal and Thailand as part of my Religious Studies curriculum and was immersed in the experience of traditional philosophy, ritual and practice grounded Buddhism and Hinduism. I completed my Master in Social Work at Western New Mexico University. I am a Licensed Clinical Therapist (LCSW) in several states. During my years in New Mexico, I was introduced to Native American and local cultural traditional healing practices which sprung from a unique confluence of Native tradition, Catholicism and Hispanic influence. I have training in Buddhist Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Positive Psychology, and other therapeutic models and enjoy finding the common threads of healing in these different practices.
