About My Clients

My clients are motivated, thoughtful, and eager to learn more about themselves. They are successful at work and struggle at times in their interpersonal relationships including their relationship to themselves. Many of my clients struggle to communicate their deepest desires, identifying their feelings and needs, setting boundaries, and challenging the people pleasing behaviors. My clients struggle to speak kindly and compassionately to themselves and manage their overthinking.

My Background and Approach

I am trained in a variety of modalities and have worked in a number of different settings including: jail, child welfare, schools and in home therapy. I supervised social workers and currently teach graduate school. I have an eclectic approach, tailoring our work to best suit your needs. My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, down to earth and conversational. I am transparent about what I am thinking in session and will ask you questions to gain deeper understanding about you. I will offer suggestions and ask you to consider certain areas you may be overlooking. Humor is often a part of our work together. I see myself as a passenger that points things out to you as you drive.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe healing is possible at any stage of life and that our past doesn't have to determine our future. I'm passionate about helping people understand the patterns they've developed to feel safe, loved, and accepted—and learn new ways of relating to themselves and others without abandoning who they are. My approach is feminist, trauma-informed, and socially conscious. I recognize that our experiences are shaped by our relationships, cultural expectations, and broader systems. I value authenticity, autonomy, and accountability, and believe compassion and meaningful change can coexist. As a therapist, author, professor, and writer, I'm drawn to the ways we prioritize others, struggle to set boundaries, and repeat patterns that no longer serve us. I'm warm and supportively direct: I'll help you connect the dots and offer practical tools to move forward. I welcome LGBTQ+ clients and diverse relationship structures, including consensual nonmonogamy.
