About My Clients
The majority of my clients are young women (ages 20-35), who have hit a roadblock in building a happy, healthy, and fulfilled life. Those blocks may include things like past trauma, unhealthy relationships, stress, anxiety, depression, lack of self-worth, or codependency. We work together to identify a vision for the life they want to create, and walk together healing and removing blocks, as they build their vision.
My Background and Approach
My counseling style is warm, interactive, and based on radical acceptance. My therapeutic stance is client-centered - where you are the expert on your own life. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) my approach is also trauma-informed, meaning there is an emphasis on the areas of safety, collaboration, transparency, and competency in our work together. After graduating with a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University in 1997, I started my career working as a therapist in a variety of community mental health and substance abuse treatment settings. Mid-career, I transitioned to working as a private clinical consultant, while also teaching psychology and communication courses as an adjunct professor. I have returned to my first passion, direct clinical practice, with a broader perspective, and I'm here to hold space for you in an environment of unconditional positive regard. Together we will work at your direction, at a pace you feel comfortable with.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that growth comes from understanding and acceptance, which is why my approach to therapy is humanistic, based on the assumptions of the psychologist, Carl Rogers: in order for us to grow and feel fulfilled, we need an environment that provides us with genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathetic understanding.
