About My Clients
I provide therapy for trauma survivors, anxious go-getters, and family cycle-breakers. I can also help you improve your relationship with food and your body.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor with experience in a variety of settings including eating disorder outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, college counseling, nonprofits, community mental health and sexual assault recovery. I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and my Bachelor of Arts in the Psychology Honors Program at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I have extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) via the EMDR Institute. I integrate a variety of therapeutic strategies to help you reach your goals including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion. As a Certified Yoga Teacher, I focus on the mind-body connection. I proudly operate from a Health at Every Size, anti-diet lens.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe many of our problems are like weeds, and they will continue to resurface until we find the "root." Comprehensive therapy incorporates the mind, body and soul- an often neglected but crucial component of healing. Connecting to your values, purpose and sense of meaning can help you weather any storm. For Catholic/Christian clients, a faith-based approach is available.* *Not you? I enjoy working with individuals of many faiths/belief systems! I will never impose my beliefs. As a trauma therapist, I am particularly respectful of any history of religious trauma. Creating a safe space for clients is my top priority.
