Trauma is person’s emotional response to a distressing experience. Nobody I know through life unscathed to some kind of trauma. Unlike ordinary hardships, traumatic events tend to be sudden and unpredictable, can involve a serious threat to life & feel beyond a person’s control. Most important, events are traumatic to the degree that they undermine a person's sense of safety in the world and create constant fear that something bad can strike at any moment.
It is shocking the number of therapists who are not in therapy. The use of YOUR SELF is the greatest tool you possess as a therapist. I am here to help you to know & to reveal the parts that make you whole, the ones you like & don't like, & the ones yet to be discovered. Your work as a therapist will transform & deepen as a result.

Codependency is most simply defined as a disregard of your own needs for another. It is a dysfunctional relationship dynamic where one person assumes the role of “the giver,” sacrificing their own needs and well-being for the sake of the other, “the taker.” The bond in question doesn’t have to be romantic; it can occur just as easily between parent and child, friends, and family members.
Somatic therapy incorporates the mind, body, & emotions into therapeutic healing work & aims to treat PTSD and other mental & emotional health concerns through the connection of mind and body using a body-centered approach. Somatic therapy incorporates body-oriented modalities such as movement, breath, sound, and meditation to assist in accessing and releasing how your body holds on to stress, tension, & trauma.
Relational therapy emphasizes the importance of relationships & their influence on a person's functioning & encourages exploration of a person’s interaction with others & how these relationships impact everyday life. Therapists use cognitive-behavioral interventions that are specifically directed towards the understanding of unhealthy patterns. Through the use of the therapy relationship, patterns emerge and new ways of responding to them are tried.
A humanistic style of therapy, Gestalt, refers to a pattern, form, or shape and suggests that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Gestalt therapy gives attention to how we place meaning and make sense of our world and our experiences. focused on a person's present life and challenges rather than delving into past experiences. This approach stresses the importance of understanding the context of a person’s life and taking responsibility rather than placing blame.
