About My Clients
Dr. Arce specializes in working with adults in an individual setting in both short- and long-term psychotherapy, particularly with issues related to anxiety, life changes, depression, and stress. She provides in-person and telehealth counseling. Dr. Arce’s ideal client is someone who has a general sense of how they’d like to use the therapeutic space, and who is motivated to reach their goals, even if they aren’t quite sure what they are yet.
My Background and Approach
To each client and session, Dr. Melissa Arce’s goal is to focus on building trust and authenticity in the room. Dr. Arce’s clients would describe her as warm, empathic, and genuine. Additionally, she uses a strengths-based and relationship-oriented approach. She consistently work to pull her client’s strengths into the room, validate her client’s experiences, and create transparency in the therapeutic process. From this foundation, Dr. Arce uses an integrative approach. Because she firmly believe that what each person brings into the room is so unique, she does not believe that there is any single type of therapy that can be most effective for all. Thus, Dr. Arce frequently uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy, depending on what will be most helpful to the client sitting in front of her.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Dr. Arce actively works together with her clients to find what works best for them and their unique situation. Dr. Arce finds that this integrative, client-centered approach helps her clients to be control of their treatment and makes them more likely to carry the skills, progress, and newly discovered strengths with them after the work together has ended.
