About My Clients
Many of us find ourselves struggling with the effects of worry, sadness, or trauma we have experienced either directly or vicariously. Counseling can help lessen the burden of these effects. My approach to counseling is trauma-informed and person-centered. I will work with you to develop a treatment style and plan that will be best suited for your needs.
My Background and Approach
As a licensed clinical social worker, I understand that a person's physical health, social connectedness, access to resources, and mental health are all interconnected. We are living in a challenging time and are facing stress from many directions. Counseling can provide you with a safe space to work through stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as the basis of my practice and draw from other types of therapies to support what we are working on in sessions. In our first session, we will explore what you want to get from therapy and then develop a treatment plan together. I have experience in emergent mobile crisis response, palliative care, counseling related to addictions, end of life issues, grief, and trauma, including work with veterans and first responders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about reducing the stigma related to mental health issues and diagnoses and aim to make effective strides in changing the culture of help-seeking behaviors among first responders.
