My Background and Approach
Melanie Osefo is a dual board certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over eight years of overall nursing experience. Melanie's nursing journey started at Morgan State University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing. With a background in medical-surgical, rehabilitaion, PACU, and ICU, Melanie continued her nursingstudies at Chamberlain College of Nursing were she received a Master of Science Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She found that several chronic medical conditions were subsequently effected by underlying mental health conditions. Therefore, in-order to be well equipped to treat the patient as a whole she later received a post-master’s certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Herzing University.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
She is a compassionate provider who is committed to delivering care that is empathetic, non-judgmental, and patient-centered. Melanie has a calm and bubbly individual with a welcoming sense of humor that will make each patient encounter seamless. Her desire to treat the patient does not end with mental health. Understanding and managing chronic medical conditions allows her to be immensely involved in her patients care to prevent potential barriers. Thus, with her expertise in managing and treating acute and chronic conditions including but not limited to high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, obesity, and COPD continues to allow her to understand contributing stressors affecting one's physical and mental being.
