About My Clients

For depression and anxiety, I use components of CBT, DBT, and ACT. We would start by learning how to identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that have been leading to negative experiences. We will learn ways to accept painful emotions, cope with those anxious and negative thoughts, stay mindful of your values, and how to start engaging in helpful behaviors to reach your therapeutic goal.

My Background and Approach

As cliché as it may sound, I always knew my journey in life was to be a counselor. With my experience in outpatient substance abuse and private practice settings, one thing I have learned is that everyone is on a different path in life. I've also learned there is not a "one size fits all" approach in therapy. Each person is going through different experiences and struggles, which is why my therapeutic approach will be individually customized for you based on your goals and needs. Meeting clients where they're at, and providing encouragement and support is a priority in my therapeutic process. Although substance abuse and private practice can consist of different populations, I've learned growth in clients stems from two factors: honesty and willingness. Honesty with yourself, having an honest therapeutic relationship, and the willingness to be open and practice the skills in the real world.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Core values I integrate in my practice include compassion, growth, empathy, and communication. Clients can be hard on themselves for numerous reasons. Either they feel they deserve it, they are not living up to their own or other's expectations, they don't feel enough, and the list can go on. How has that been working for you? When using the approach of compassion and empathy, you learn acceptance and love toward yourself and others. It can provide a new perspective to the lens you have been viewing life through, which allows you to validate your experiences to give you to space to evolve and learn. Whether communication consists of self-talk, within your romantic relationship, with your friends or family, or at work, it's something you engage in every day. We will learn communication skills to effectively express yourself in relationships, as well as utilizing compassion and empathy to engage in healthier communication with yourself.
