About My Clients
I’m passionate about working with fellow members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, individuals impacted by adoption, and those navigating racial identity/trauma. My experiences as a domestic violence advocate and trauma/crisis intervention specialist for victims of violent crime have also cemented my passion for working with survivors of trauma from domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking.
My Background and Approach
I take person-centered, trauma-informed, and feminist approaches to counseling, and acknowledge clients as the expert in their own lives. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy, which I use predominantly with clients working through trauma. Many clients I serve struggle with trauma, low self-esteem, racial or SO/GI issues, and anxiety. I primarily use a combination of EMDR and person-centered therapy that prioritizes holding a non-judgmental space to release and process difficult feelings, as well as develop skills for emotion regulation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer, adopted Asian American, I understand the importance and impact of intersectional identities in clients' lives and mental health experiences. I am committed to a lifelong journey of growth in multi-cultural sensitivity and awareness, and like Ted Lasso, being curious, not judgmental. I am Agnostic, and I believe in respecting different religious backgrounds. I also believe that women and trans rights are human rights, I support the Black Lives Movement and Stop Asian Hate campaign, and I firmly support the right to body autonomy.
