About My Clients
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just needing a safe space to talk? I work with adults and have a certification in working with the older adult population. I specialize in mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief/loss, women's health, relationships, self-esteem, assertiveness, caregiver support, life transitions, chronic illness, diagnosis of a medical condition, and challenges connected to aging/death/dying. I help people take the steps and learn tools to make changes in their lives.
My Background and Approach
I utilize CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and EMDR to assist my clients in addressing their symptoms and teaching them the tools they need to make the changes in their lives. I believe strongly in collaborating with the individual to take the time needed to identify the challenges and changes they want to make. I go at the person's pace to fully understand the whole person, identify the strategies that will be helpful for the person, and we create a plan in line with the person's values and needs. We address symptoms, areas where the person may feel "stuck," and then work to implement concreate strategies designed to assist in, reducing symptoms, processing past/current traumatic experiences if needed, and eliciting change and growth as defined by the individual I am working with. I use my many years of experience to assist the client in tapping into their own resilience to support their growth and enhance their well-being. My license in Colorado is issued by DORA.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In these uncertain times, I believe even more strongly today that we need to support one another, create safe spaces, and dissolve stigmas around mental health. My passion is around supporting adults across the life span by creating a safe space to process past events, current events, the impact of life, and assist people in increasing their confidence in showing up in the world as their authentic self. We are given many messages that who we are is "not good enough." I want to teach people that we can work with the symptoms that may be impacting their lives, figure out the barriers, and define what change means to the person. This allows one to explore the internalized belief system that may be contributing to behavioral patterns, relationship challenges, and the most important relationship-the one we have with ourselves. When we can process trauma, learn new strategies, and enhance our resilience-that can lead to impactful change that far extends beyond the therapy space.
